Fellow FLARCians!

This is a longish update, please read through to the end.

Our monthly gathering is soon to be upon us! This coming Tuesday evening,
January 16th, 2018, we will be gathering at our usual location of UW Space
Place at 19:00 and being called to order at 19:30.

Our program this month will be programming radios, specifically with the Free
and Open Source program CHIRP. If you got a new radio this past holiday
season and want some help programming it, or have had one for a while that you
would like help with, please bring it! We will have cables for
Kenwood/Baofeng radios.

This month we will be holding elections for the Board of Directors, so far our
nominees are, in no particular order:

We will take more nominations before the election, self nominations are
welcome!

Which brings me to my next item, membership dues. In order to vote, you must
be a current member. If you have not paid your dues for this year, please
bring cash or check made out to Four Lakes Amateur Radio Club.

$20 Senior
$14 Additional Family Member
$10 Student

Also with the new year, we will be retiring the mailing current QST mailing list.

The new list will be located at groups.io and will only be for
current members.

Also at the end of this month we will be participating in Winter Field Day,
Jan 27-28. We will be at the Town of Christiana Town Hall, just outside of
Cambridge. If you have any questions or want to attend, but are not on the
FDOPS list, please contact Matt NM9O or Carolyn NQ9A.

FOUR LAKES AMATEUR RADIO CLUB FIELD DAY 2014 at BADGER PRAIRIE PARK

What is Field Day?

Dates & Location: 6/28/2014 and 6/29/2014 at Badger Prairie Park.

Badger Prairie Park in Verona WI is at the intersection of US Highway 18/151 and County Highway PB.  For bicyclists, the park is at the intersection of the Military Ridge State Trail and the Ice Age Junction Trail, GPS coordinates are 42.998321,-89.52012.

Set up: Saturday 6/28/2014 at 8 AM CDT ( 13:00 UTC ) we encourage everyone to come and join us for setting up

Operations: Start: 1 PM CDT ( 18:00 UTC ) Saturday   End: 1 PM CDT ( 18:00 UTC ) Sunday

Anyone is welcome to operate, you can do it by checking in at the welcome tent when you come, or just stopping by the station you want to operate.

Welcome Tent: Come sign in, get information on amateur radio and the Four Lakes amateur Radio Club, get a tour of the stations, ask questions.

Bands & Modes:
We will be operating as W9JZ 6A WI on bands 10M, 15M, 20M and 40M using SSB ( voice ) and CW ( morse code ), possibly digital modes as well.

Food: If you plan on eating the club provided lunch and dinner on Saturday, there is a $7/person fee, this covers both lunch and dinner.

Please sign up for meals at the upcoming FLARC meetings on 5/20/2014 or 6/17/2014. NOTE: the 6/17/2014 meeting is at Badger Prairie Park..  If you can't make it to the meetings sign up can be done by sending $7 in a check to:

There will be coffee and doughnuts available.

Schmoozing: We even have a tent specifically for this, this year!  This will help keep the operations area quieter and easier to hear those distant stations.
