FLARC Membership Meeting Minutes – October 21st 2025

Four Lakes Amateur Radio Club Membership Meeting
October 21th 2025

Meeting called to order at 19:31 by Steve Ujvarosy, W9GZO.

Motion to approve the minutes as published of the September 2025 meeting by Steve Shay, KC9JPX. Seconded by Jim Lattis, K9REO, all in favor.

Treasurers report submitted and read by Sam Ledbetter, KI5POE. Current checking account balance is $3,814.55. Certificate of Deposit is $4,202.44. Seventy two paid members with $1,628 dues collected year to date. Motion to approve the Treasurers report by Jim Lattis. Seconded by Patrick, NT9A, all in favor.

Jim Lattis, K9REO, presented a quick update on UW Space Place and what might be occurring in the future. The current lease runs through June of 2026 and the classroom area is no longer leased by UW Astronomy and no longer used by UW Space Place.

Bragging Rights and Call Sign Changes
Ralph Culver, KE9DYZ, upgraded to General Class
Jeff Fillian, K9UNZ, is now a Volunteer Examiner
Thomas Baden, AC9BJ, Operated the Minnesota QSO Party. He received the highest score for Wisconsin operators. He also operated the Illinois QSO Party from Jo Daves County in Illinois and made about 600 contacts.
Kevin Graniero, KF9AQ. Operated POTA from two state parks in Door County, Wisconsin.
Thomas Murphy, WN1C, completed a road trip with ten new parks with a six park POTA row. He also operated the Illinois QSO Party from Indiana with QRP 192 points. Thomas also won the Wisconsin POTA QRP Single Transmitter catagory from a WI Park with 1,302 points.

VE Report for May 2025
Eight volunteer examiners in attendance.
Seven candidates resulting in five new Technician Class licenses and one new General Class licenses.

Old Business
Holiday Party
The 2025 FLARC Holiday Party will be on December 2nd 6-9pm at The Draft House in Verona. The menu is being put together and expect an email soon to register.
Winter Field Day will possibly be held at the Dane County EOC or at UW Space Place. If you are interested in participating please contact Patrick McCauley, NT9A.

ARRL Field Day 2026
Jeff Fritsche, KE9CQP, has taken the role as chairman of ARRL Field Day 2026. Steve Ujvarosy, W9GZO, is the Public Information Officer with support from Craig Uselman, KA9RGN, and Jeff Fillian, K9UNZ. The FLARC Board of Directors met at the new site earlier this month so all the members could see the location. If you have equipment you would like to offer for use, please notify Jeff and we will add it to the list of available equipment. We will have a Zoom meeting on January 6th to review and update, look for it on the FD-Ops email list.

New Business
The Fox Cities Amateur Radio Club ham fest is November 2nd.
Kevin Graniero, KF9AQ, inquired about a club roster and how to obtain it.
