Four Lakes Amateur Radio Club Membership Meeting
March 17th 2026
Meeting called to order at 19:30 by Steve Ujvarosy, W9GZO.
Motion to approve the minutes as published of the February 2026 meeting by Doug Speer, W5WTX. Seconded by Sam Ledbetter, KI5POE, all in favor.
Treasurers report submitted and read by Sam Ledbetter, KI5POE. Current checking account balance is $4,356.00. Certificate of Deposit is $4,147.55. Forty nine paid members with $1,090.00 dues collected year to date. No motion to approve.
Bragging Rights and Call Sign Changes
Sam Ledbetter, KI5POE, has made a QSO with all US states, all Canadian provinces and all South and Central American countries via FT8, as well as two new stations in Africa.
Jeff Fritsche, KE9CQP, passed the Extra exam!
VE Report for April 2026
Eight volunteer examiners in attendance.
Ten candidates resulting in four new Technician Class licenses, three upgrades to General Class and two upgrades to Extra Class.
Old Business
Better Life Insurance and Middleton Ford have signed on as sponsors to the event. Seven operators signed up for Saturday, four operators overnight and four operators Sunday morning. We are still looking for a safety coordinator, please talk to Jeff if you are interested. ARRL Field Day posters will be finished and ready by the end of April.
FLARC has applied to the Dane County Board of Supervisors proclaiming the weekend of June 27th, 2026, Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Weekend, as is the City of Madison and the Village of Waunakee. Three Dane County supervisors will be attending ARRL Field Day, along with two representees from Wisconsin Emergency Management.
Proceeding the April general meeting, anyone bringing radios and computers to ARRL Field Day should bring them to the meeting at 6pm. We will be attaching them to the network and making sure the logging software and WSJT-X software works properly.
A Zoom ARRL Field Day meeting is scheduled for April 7th, 2026.
MARA Hamfest is Saturday April 18th. Please contact Paul Anderson, WB9QVV, if you are able to help with the event.
New Business
With UW Space Place closing, the board is currently looking for a new location to hold meetings, as well as a new location to hold VE testing. If you know of any place that that would be willing to host us free of charge, please let us know. Doug Speer, W5WTX, inquired about what investment would be needed to allow us to meet without relying on included AV support and equipment.
