MeshCore

What is MeshCore?

MeshCore is a mesh networking project that is designed for off-grid text based communication between users. It allows for low-powered license free 900MHz LoRa radios to communicate with each other allowing messages to be sent with no use of commercial cellular infrastructure. Repeaters are solar powered and have battery backup power and can cover a small neighborhood or a wide area, depending on the intent of the installation.

Current FLARC supported wide area installations include:
  Schumacher Farm Park
  Pine Bluff
  Madison College Truax Campus
UW Space Place at Villager Mall
  Madison Central at W9YT

Plus additional neighborhood repeaters and more to come. If you would like to help expand the network by hosting a repeater at your home or business, contact Nicholas Lager, KB9SKW, for more information.

A coverage map of the Madison area can be found at MeshMapper – MSN and a live map can be found at Wisconsin MeshCore

Check back here in future for more information as FLARC continues to support the regional buildout of the network.
